De Garuda Kinship Charter

I. Mission Statement

De Garuda is a multi-national kinship, made up of individuals from around the world. Our goal is to create a close, friendly community based on communication, sharing, and teamwork. We aim to conquer everything the game has to offer, including both raiding and pvmp. We focus on quality over quantity in our membership and recruiting. One unique aspect of our kinship is that we strive to create an environment where players who live in any time zone or have abnormal schedules can still find groups and raids during those hours of the day/night when these type of events do not usually occur.

II. Rules and Code of Conduct

A. Rule Number One - Treat your fellow kinship members with respect, as you would like to be treated in return.

B. Communication - Good communication is the foundation for our kinship's success. This website is a vital tool for communication and all members are required to register and check the site regularly for updates and information. Participation in the forums is not mandatory but strongly encouraged. If you have questions, problems, or concerns, do not hesitate to communicate them to an officer or leader in the kinship.

1. Kinship Chat - De Garuda is a mature Kinship. Kinship chat, ventrilo, in-game chat, forums etc ... usually contain offensive language of some sort. This is NOT discouraged. If you find it offensive, please say so to the member; in most cases, they will try to watch what they say if they know someone takes offense. If the problem persists, then bring it to an officers attention.
2. Ventrilo - De Garuda uses Ventrilo as our Primary means of communication for all groups, raids, and events. Most channels, for most members, contain Adult oriented conversations or sensitive topics. These channels will not be moderated at any time. Enter at your own risk! There are channels that are set aside for "G" rated conversations.

C. Sharing - We strongly encourage and promote sharing among kin members. Items which you obtain from other kin members or from the kinship vault are not to be sold for your personal profit. Doing so is grounds for immediate dismissal.

D. Representation - As a member of De Garuda, your words and actions in the LOTRO community represent all of us. Verbal abuse or harassment toward anyone (members or non) will NOT be tolerated and is grounds for immediate dismissal from the kinship. This includes displaying prejudice towards another player's race, religion, sex, or nationality. Do not intentionally cause undue strife to another player (grief). This applies to PvMP as well as emotes in populated areas.

E. Activity - We understand that real life always comes first, and do not have specific requirements on members' activity levels. However, we do request that all members who expect to be inactive for a period of more then one week, post a notice in the forums or notify an officer of their absense. Any characters who are inactive for longer than 30 days without notice may be subject to removal.

III. Kinship Events, Raiding and Looting

A. Event/Raid Scheduling - Currently, Raid Leaders are allowed and encouraged to schedule events on the website calendar. Any event that is planned in advance, must be added to the calendar.

B. Event/Raid Signup and Attendance - Members who sign up for an event are expected to be prompt and ready for the event at the scheduled start time. Do not sign up for an event unless you are certain you can make the event and stay for its duration. Sometimes things happen in real life beyond our control which might cause a participant to be late, miss an event, or leave early. In such cases, they may be replaced by someone on the event waiting list. Multiple instances of absense or tardiness may result in a members suspension from future events and/or raids.

C. Raid Leaders - Certain members, who have the experience, ability, and willingness to lead a group successfully to reach a goal, will be designated raid leaders. Other raid participants are expected to listen carefully and follow the instructions of the raid leader.

D. Looting - Currently, looting policies will be set on a per-event basis. Raid leaders should ensure that the looting policy for their raid or event is established and understood by all participants before the event begins. All participants must adhere to the established looting policy or be subject to suspension from future events.

IV. Recruiting

A. Applying - All individuals interested in joining De Garuda are asked to fill out an application on our website. Your application will then be reviewed by our officers for consideration. The application questions are serious, and your answers will be our first impression of you.

B. Recruiting Period - If your application is accepted you will be invited to the kinship as a recruit. As a recruit, it is your responsibility to get to know the members and officers. It is your time to decide if DG is right for you. The members of De Garuda will vote on each application after a two week recruitment period. The voting process will be open for 7 days. This process will be closed to all non-members, and the comments and results of the voting will be moved to a secure archive when the voting is complete. After the applicants have been voted on, the Kinship Leader / Successor (ONLY) will promote or kick each applicant based on the outcome of the poll.

C. Exceptions - There may be certain exceptions to the above recruiting policy. These will be handled on a case by case basis and decided on by the Leader / Successor.

V. Leadership

A. Non-members / Alliance - Individuals that fall into this category have a website account and have made a special arrangement with the Officers to participate in De Garuda hosted events on a regular basis. They do not have priority over recruits or members. We have very strong friendships and alliances with other Kinships on Nimrodel. Any person participating in one of our events MUST adhere to our "Code of Conduct". Anyone that does not act accordingly will be subject to suspension from future events.

B. Recruits - Recruits are in a temporary testing phase. This time is not "set-in-stone". It is a time for them to decide if they want to be a full member as well as a time for the general membership to get to know them. Recruits will be judged first and foremost on personal character, honesty, and integrity. The character(s) level, class, traits, skills, and playability will always come second. Recruits have no voting rights, and will be removed from the Kinship after 2 weeks of inactivity.

C. Member - The General Membership of De Garuda has proven themselves to be the best on the server. Members are able to vote on Recruits, lead raids, and host events. Members are expected to adhere and uphold the highest standards. The General Membership is encouraged to show leadership ability by getting involved on the website, hosting events, and helping others.

D. Raid Leaders - Members who have EXTENSIVE knowledge of zones throughout Middle Earth may be asked to be Raid Leaders. A comprehensive knowledge of EVERY class and each Raid is mandatory. Raid Leaders are able to schedule events on the Calendar, approve/disapprove sign ups, and distribute loot. Raid Leaders may also kick anyone from their raids at anytime. In a Raid, they are the highest authority, and are held to a much higher standard. Because of this, they should be given the upmost respect. Listening and following their leadership will result in raid progression and success. Raid Leaders are chosen by the Officers. The position is temporary and only filled by the best and most trusted members who have proven themselves as skilled players and leaders.

E. Officers - Officers are the Kinship advisors. They help and support the Kinship Leader. Officers can invite new Recruits and vote on dismissing Recruits and Members. They, along with the Leader, can vote on new Officers. Officers are expected to represent the Kinship and their conduct is scrutinized more so than other members. Inactivity or bad behavior can result in a demotion without warning.

F. Leader / Successor - The Kinship Leader handles the actual promotions of all members, dismissals and demotions. He can, without discussion, demote anyone at anytime. He makes Kinship policy with the help of his Officers. He is responsible for the entire membership as well as our place in the Nimrodel community. He has the final word in all matters pertaining to the Kinship.
