News
Monday, December 29, 2008 : CNN? O.o Ianto
Well howdy DG!
I know i know two news in 1 week what are we CNN?
After the initial watcher defeat there’s been many interested in giving it a go, and rightly so!
This is a quick News announcement that a 2nd watcher run is up for this Saturday and a 3rd will be up shortly.

Now having said that there are still people who need to get their 6 bits of armour, Fear not for there’s still instance runs going on. If you need a bit and there’s not a run up for it on the calendar let an officer know, can't say they'll drop everything and charge through the instance screaming but if they're free and can get a team together you've a much better chance then shouting for a PUG group in LFF!

Fried squid for everybody! :9

Saturday, December 27, 2008 : Fried Squid Anyone? Ianto
Hello DG, What a week, Xmas holiday presents, food and family.
(we did not eat our family o.o)
Hope everyone had fun.
I have to point out that DG has downed the watcher, a server first!
Lead by Rarin who deserves a special mention go Jaffa! Both I and Ianto were lucky enough to take part Go Team swim! Also involved were Serth, Bel, Puny, Delilia, Loscules, Cheesepoofs, Dagorond, Celathorn and Zydrig.

As well as a whole bunch of other people who helped develop the winning strategy and whose willingness to die again and again trying new ideas really paved the way for this. Such as Yabba, Mornie, Xadoc, Jaegerx and Chariell. We died quite a lot and it took 2 chain turn ins but on that last run we had the strategy down perfectly and the timing of everyone involved was just spot on.
I'm hoping this sees the start of some regular watcher runs in which DG start kicking his tentacled butt regularly. So anyone who is 60 and has not got a full radiance set you'd better get your butt in gear, we need more people able to take part in order to kill this bugger more than once a week. It can be hard getting a group together for an instance feel free to ask officers for help with that, I know we have a lot of really great people who willingly go into instances again and again even though they have full sets (mostly to help but you can get a lot of cash/runes and settings doing these instances multiple times plus there are some cool rare teal drops out there).

Obviously the big news this week is the watcher kill which i had the honour of attending and now walk around with the title "Slayer of the watcher" which is a PM magnet let me tell you!
Thus far my favourite PMed question has been "how do you get that title?", shortly followed by "Can you kill it for us?"
Yeah i'll solo the watcher for you...no problem.

Congrats to cheese on the first, first-age weapon on Nimrodel and to bel with the first complete radiance set! very happy for you bel totally deserved!

If you haven’t had a chance to see the watcher yet for whatever reason and you want a preview of sorts, be sure to head to the DG kinhouse, make sure you have item names turned on, and click on the "Ominous Pool"...and you'll get to do what i spent a long time doing during the watcher fight!
Well Puny and myself....i think the watcher has a taste for Hobbit!

Anyway have fun out there and be sure to finish off your armour sets for future watcher runs!

Crafting XP Fix
Dec 18, 2008 13:48 EST
Those who were affected by the crafting XP issue should begin seeing an item in your mail boxes over the next several days. It is very important you understand what this item will and will not do. Please see Here for details.

Hey De garuda, how've you been?
me? yeah not bad.
Hows the kids?
Really? heh...yeah that Rarin is quite the little trouble maker How did he manage that?
....Yikes to Shreds you say?
yeah well, tell madhy if he keeps that up it'll drop off.

Yeah i know it's been a while you can spank us later.

Anyway in the news this week, Egypt court convicts food rioters, Crowds greet freed Palestinians, Daily China-Taiwan flights begin and of course Teenager tries to make amends by completing UK coast walk.

Oh you mean DG news?

Well Instance runs for teal Armour, the new 'rift armour' with hope sewn right into the fabric...so be careful as hope can run in the wash! are happening on a near daily basis so don't forget to check the calendar for them and also kin chat is seeing a lot of shout outs for a few extra people for runs happening impromptu too!

now in a change to regularly scheduled news broadcasting i'd like to take a few moments out to cover some things on a personal level.

first off:-
Sorry Aeo still haven't taken you through the treasury yet but we still intend to, just managing to all be online at the same time, time zones allowing, seems to be a little more tricky then we thought.

Second:-
hi from tin-tinny-crazy-rog-tanker (she found out i was at that moment writing up my part of the news)

The game went live today with a 2nd patch since release the patch notes can be found here

And finally today i logged in as my SM shcolar kaidan (see how i sliped in that he's an SM? yeah....i know not that impressive ...bleh anyway) and found randomly in my inventory a new Captains Emblem and a heritage rune worth 190,000ixp now thats interesting as he's lvl 51 and has only 1 legendary weapon. nice little story for you there but how may it benefit you?
taken from the lotro announcments:

"Some Legendary Class items were damaged during reforging at Thorin's Hall and Rivendell. The offending Forge-masters have been reprimanded, and as compensation have passed along new unidentified class items along with appropriate Heritage Runes to characters who were affected. Any relics placed in the damaged items have also been unslotted. All legendary points have been refunded for the damaged item.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."

I sugest you check all your characters pockets...you neevr know!

Right *cough* anyway over to t'other one.

Hello, it's been a few weeks since we last updated the news, we've been too busy in Moria trying to get instances, epics and a bunch of other crap done. It's not going to be long before Rarin and a few others try a watcher run, for those interested in doing similar or joining in you will need a full set of radiance armour before you even consider stepping into the watchers pool 160 Gloom is no joke, it really stings.

Anyway DG members have been running those instances at all hours of the day and night trying to get their armour sets, I'm on 4/6 at the moment and hope to make it 6/6 very soon.

I've been told that PVP has been crushed by the MOM release, personally I haven't stepped foot in the moors since moria came out I've been too set on getting to 60 and getting new gear. However I'm told that freeps outclass the creeps really badly and that Turbine are planning on fixing it soon, so make hay while you can pvp freeps and creeps... try not to die.

Honestly, the oddest things you find with "lotro" on google...

Hello again, it's been a crazy couple of weeks full of power leveling discoveries and stuff with things! Of course Moria has been released and DG has been flooding it with members, seriously everywhere you go down there there's someone from DG.

The first and most important bit of news from Moria is that patch 1 is out this Monday and will hopefully fix things. Grats have to go to Jaffa for hitting 60 1st. Lots more DG members have hit 60 now and with many more in the late 50's we will soon have to turn our attention to those harder instances and get us all some cool new armour/weapons/shiny things you know you want those shiny things.

Anyway good luck out there with the leveling, crafting, epic quests or whatever it is you are doing.

Happy thanksgiving for those who are...giving thanks o.o
Moria came in, in a flurry and we did our things.
As usual turbine added some fantastic bugs to keep us all entertained (or frustrated as the case may have been) my personal favourite from this release? hmmm it'd have to be the Stout Defender addition for your tools, belt, rune etc. actually lowered your defence as apposed to upping it! awesome stuff, especially having had to do the drake related quest to obtain it.
nice.
Anyway as gary mentioned Patch 1 is out on monday fixing a bunch of mess and unfortunately for us burgs fixing the 'provoke = mez bug' *sniff* ah well enjoy it while it lasts. patch notes can be viewed here.

gary and throgo hit 60 early this morning so they're both giddy. I'm not far off myself and would have already hit it if it weren't for you pesky kids!
Or i hadn't decided to take my hunter through moria first got him to 52 before we realised a burg would be more beneficial to a 3 man group.
So why did i mention they'd hit 60? well now they have i'm SURE they'd be more than happy to help others hit 60...if you see them in moria give them a prodding!

see you all at 60!...or before that too i guess o.o

Another of my fave bugs from moria; the 'I CAN FLYz' bug

Got Your Hands on a Moria Box? Don't Install It Yet!
Nov 13, 2008 10:44 EST
Beat the street date for Moria and have a copy already? We know you're excited, but don't install it yet! Installing from the Moria disks before Moria officially launches can make your current installation unplayable and require you to re-install Shadows of Angmar to fix it. If you'd like to update your files before Moria goes live, the only safe way to do so is to use the downloadable updater.

Reminder: Hosts File Changes
Nov 11, 2008 13:23 EST
If you previously changed your Hosts file to address connection issues be sure to revert your changes as soon as possible. Leaving the changes in your Hosts files may cause connection problems in the future.

Mines of Moria Downloadable Updater Now Available!

Are you ready for The Lord of the Rings Online: Mines of Moria? The downloadable updater is now available through nVidia! Click here for more information!

Well DG another week down Moria is just one week away, personally I'm spending that week power leveling my last toon to 50. Level 50 or Death! Right Tin?
There's 25% extra exp until Moria's release so be sure to take advantage of it.

This week DG raids returned triumphantly, Mr Roggy got firmly kicked in the teeth for mis-behaving last weekend. So go Team DG! Lets make sure the last weekend before Moria we firmly kick Roggy butt once more before we do it with a bunch of 60's to back us up.

Jade sent me a link that I thought I'd share with everyone Craft stoofes. This shows you a list of all the materials you will need to hit kindred in the crafting guilds in the minimum time it will take is 22 days. Ouch

Wow got through that without one comment from Ianto!

Shad ap, cela-a-like.

...so close.

Massively have a Visual tour of Moria which I stumbled upon recently just a warning before we start though this could be considered pretty spoiler heavy for those not wishing to know about things in advance.

A picture indeed can be worth a thousand words, if i were more prone to giddiness than perhaps i am, many of them could have quite easily been "omg omg omg omg omg".
*cough* anyway the tour itself is quite impressive and even though i have seen a bunch of screen shots and heard info about MoM already this was something beyond that and answered questions in my own mind about how certain things would work and how indeed something's would look, and i wasn't disappointed, such things as the new mounts and the sheer-size of moria, and a question plaguing my own mind: would being underground for the most part get dull and look dull and lifeless?

The tour introduces you to things you'll see, things you'll wanna see, maps, familiar locations, male morroval (hmmm may have to confirm that with a peek under a loincloth or 2...) and the different types of balrog and indeed images of trainers, relic masters and forge masters.

As i said earlier it'll be spoiler heavy so if you want to be surprised then you'd best stay clear, other wise go take a look it's interesting, educational and perhaps even, in some ways, a little hawt.

Anyway if you would like to take this tour, and i urge you to do so, you can see it in all it's glory here.

Anyway be good!
